Thank you for posting these interesting images. What please are the diameter and height of the bottle?
It is difficult to identify the materials. Some of the parts seem to be made of a yellow metal, but I would expect everything to be made of cast iron or steel, since many other metals and alloys are soluble in mercury.
I suspect the brass domed nut is a "foreigner" and it would probably be safest to have the missing transition piece machined from cast iron or steel.
