I find it simply beyond credibility that Frenchmen, finding gourmet seafood trying to climb into their galley, would have allowed it to escape their complete culinary skills. They could have had fresh seafood for dinner and seviche or leftovers for two more days. The very concept of Frenchman allowing food to depart their galley without a fight. Impossible!
