Re: An interesting series of Navigation Books by the same author

I remembered today to photograph my little Rantzen collection, acquired in late November after David Pike mentioned this "interesting series...by the same author". With one exception, it was cheap to assmble. All four of the "Little Ships" books plus the small "Wrinkles" book came to $22 with shipping included. The book on English Channel tides was a little extra, but I enjoy books on tidal phenomenology, so I was comfortable spending another $20 for that one alone. Rantzen wrote well, and he had a native teaching skill with an inclination towards science. I don't agree with everything he says in his books by any means, but it's been good service to my nostalgia appetite in the past few weeks.

Below I have attached a photo of the collection. The single book in the image without a dust jacket is "Little Ships Navigation (Coastal)". The back of the Tides book (the one on the left) included a portrait of the author. I snapped a photo of that, too. It's more recent (c.1965) than the one I found previously from meteorology school in 1939, but he's still sporting that same beard.
