You are correct in saying that the plains do undulate from St. Louis to Denver. However, there are places in the Dakotas where the land is so flat that when you stand on a water tower in a town you can actually see the curvature of the Earth. When I was up there years ago this was reported to me by a local surveyor in the aftermath of flooding. I did not have time to check this out but looking around I could definitly see that the ground was pretty flat. Road Trip???
