Observing the big dipper is not a problem, however.

The Australian national airline is QANTAS, Derrick.
Stands for: Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Service.
The airline's story is here:
You may even find your aircraft there.
The name has, nevertheless, always been pronounced as 'quantas'. When the decision was made to move to decimal currency (occurred in 1966) there was some discussion about what to call the new unit. Eventually the decision was made to adopt the 'dollar', which I've always thought an unimaginative choice, and liable to lead to confusion with other currencies. As it happens, we had a perfectly good, and perhaps unique slang term for the existing 'pound'. It was widely referred to as the 'quid' which was, I understand, a measure of tobacco originally. That would have made a great and quite unique name for our currency, and complimented QANTAS as the airline. All from the land of Oz, where everybody goes about their business upside down, the seasons are reversed, and thus anything may be possible..
Observing the big dipper is not a problem, however.

Frank,
Just got around to reading your note on the KC-135.
I used to work for Boeing Aircraft Company. I was there when we sold the
first B-737 to Quantus Airlines.
