Did anyone else notice the radioman on Itasca calling Earhart, who's call sign was KHAQQ, as KING-HOW-ABLE-QUEEN-QUEEN when this phonetic alphabet had not yet been invented in 1937? The proper usage, based on the 1927 Navy Bluejackets Manual, should have been KING-HYPO- AFFIRMATIVE-QUACK-QUACK. (This is where the name Station Hypo comes from for the the navy's code breaking station in Hawaii in W.W.II.) gl -- NavList message boards: www.fer3.com/arc Or post by email to: NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList+@fer3.com
