I was wondering if anyone uses any alternate almanacs to the yearly Nautical Almanac.... I see there are some online almanacs such as: http://www.tecepe.com.br/scripts/AlmanacPagesISAPI.isa My Palm TX runs CelestNav, and it has a perpetual almanac, but you don't want to always count on a PDA for navigation. What I want to know is about autonomous almanacs that don't require an internet connection. Has anyone tried the sun and star almanacs in Pub 249 (Von 2 and 3 for sun, Vol 1 for Aries)? How about Geoffrey Kolbe's Long Term Almanac? Unfortunately there don't seem to be any good Macintosh almanacs programs to get GHA. They would have to be programed in as on a calculator. At least I've found none.
