Hi Gordon, There is a book called "the Calculator Afloat - a mariner's guid to electronic calculator". This book provide you with formulae and data for calculating GHA, SHA and Declination for Sun, Aris and Stars from 1979 to 1999. I had use this formulae in 1984 to write celestial navigation programs for private use on board ship. They are very accurate and within an acceptable range when compare with the Alamnac. My homepage that setted up in June this year basically use these formulae and JavaScript to convert my old programs and make them available on the WWW. You may have a visit and check the results. I have not yet get time to code the part for stars which I worry will take another month before it could be completed.
