Bob Batten's mailing of a few days ago, copied below, contains a typo which could mislead searchers. The author's name is not Muess, but Jean Meeus. There's also on earlier version of the same work entitled "Astronomical formulae for calculators". Both are a wonderful mine of information on calculating celestial positions, and much else beside. But neither contains a catalogue of positions of the limited number of navigational stars, with names and proper-motions, which I think was the object of the initial enquiry. This would indeed be a useful addition to a future edition. But as Bob Batten points out, the work is primarily intended for astronomers rather than navigators. ================== >Check out "Astronomical Algorithms" by Muess under the "Math and >Celestial Mechanics" section of the Willmann-Bell Inc. astronomy >booksellers web site www.willbell.com.
