Anybody have an opinion regarding the use of xylene vs. isopropanol in a bubble cell? I’ve always use reagent grade isopropanol ‘cause it stinks less when refilling, not to mention I get it for free where I work. I always figured they specified xylene since it’s less volatile and would evaporate less.

Paolo,
You say
"If you can find pure grade Xylene (Xylol) it is one of the top liquid for filling being about 15% less dense than water and very stable to temperature changes.
My two cents."
Home Depot (U.S. hardware store chain) has Xylene. I may try this. The bubble chamber on the old A-7 (pre-war) hasn't aged well so small bubbles do noticeably drag across the chamber surface.
