Yes there was.
I also googled using "july 18, 1860"+eclipse. There are references to
observations in Canada, Spain, Sudan. This eclipse was
photographed -- an early instance of astrophotography. And observers
apparently saw a coronal mass ejection in progress. Some drawings of the corona
during the eclipse:
