    About lunars

I have discovered the Lunars late in the first days of this list, (I joined in 1998), and thanks to George Huxtable and others, when He wrote “About Lunars” in 2002, I have started to learn about Lunars.

Now, after a navigation course at my yacht club, (I am the teacher), the greater part of the students were very interested about GPS and electronic nautical charts and few in celestial navigation. They learned CN only for obtaining the license. (In Spain and France, a certificate is required for doing ocean navigation and includes celestial navigation. I suppose that in the UK, Germany and USA it is not necessary to have a license for navigate???).

Anyway, only a few were interested in old methods like sight reduction, latitude by Polaris, at LAN, or Lunars, because of the complication.

One is very interested in Lunars, and I have recommended him the series of e-mails “About lunars” and the THE LUNAR DISTANCE PAGE at http://members.verizon.net/~vze3nfrm/

He has enjoyed a lot reading about Lunars, and asks me about the promised parts 5 & 6. George, are you closed that project,

or may be some day will finished?

Also, I have sent him a copy of  "Finding Longitude by Lunar Distance," which appears in the latest Navigation News.
