Eric,
Remove the two screws as shown in the first photo, to withdraw the bubble unit.
Release the screw as shown in the second photograph and if the steel ball underneath it doesn't drop out, give the unit a sharp rap on a wooden bench to persuade it.
But before you begin, do you really need to refill it? Hold the unit with the control uppermost and rotate the control backwards and forwards to reduce the bubble. If the bubble is large, you may have to do this thirty or forty times to get a suitable size. Only if you cannot reduce the bubble should you do a refill.
You will need less than 10 mls of xylene, but you will waste some. 100 mls will be very adequate, but you may find you have to buy a litre. Ronsonol cigarette lighter fluid (naphtha) is said to be a suitable substitute if you cannot find xylene. Filling via a hypodermic syringe and needle is easy to do, but xylene attacks plastic syringes, so do not hesitate with the task.
Afterwards, replace the steel ball down the hole and freshen the slot in the screw if it is damaged and tighten the screw on top of the ball. To make sure of a seal, run some shellac around the top of the screw.
