    Apologies to Jean-Phillippe

I was having a bit of a "senior's" moment when I posted that note.

    Hello Nicolas,

You can find hexane at any scientific supply firm. Hexane is commonly used as an sampling implement rinsing agent for people taking samples of hydrocarbon-contaminated soil. I use this stuff in my line of work, plus I am lucky enough to liaise with various researchers who come through here and who find it cheaper to give me their left over hexane than pay for the dangerous goods charges to fly it out!

The only caution I would offer is to work with the stuff in a well-ventilated area as it is volatile.

I have re-filled a grand total of one MK IXA with success. Most of my refills are Plath attachments, which lend themselves very well to re-filling without a lot of hassle.

    Robert

    Hello Robert,

Thanks for those additionnal information. As I also own a British made Mk IXB that requires partial refill,  I'd be glad to know  where you were able to find hexane? Have you already reconditionned a Mk IX?
    Kind regards
    JPP
