I worked out the example from the paper and obtained the following result:

    UT of LAN:               19:55:44
    Latitude at LAN:        N   33 deg 39.7'
    Longitude at LAN:    W 118 deg 17.0'

    Data from the paper:

UT of LAN:               19:55:42                    (difference: -2 seconds)
    Latitude at LAN:        N   33 deg 40.0'        (difference: +0.3')
    Longitude at LAN:    W 118 deg 16.6'        (difference: -0.4')
