Right, and I'm not worried about the Arabic pronunciation since these are no longer Arabic words (several are Greek and some are simply made up). The 57 navigational star names belong to navigators. But what I was wondering is whether there are navigators who have interpreted the way Zubenelgenubi is written in the almanac to mean that it is pronounced "Zuben'ubi" (with the ' either unpronounced or pronounced as a glottal stop). Is Zubenubi simply an alternative proncunciation that some people use? I have always heard Zubenelgenubi from others. And I have always *said* Zubenelgenubi for the simple reason that it's a fun name to let roll off the tongue.
