I cannot see any circle of position on the plot, are confused with the
    confidence ellipse?"

Yes, indeed I was confused with the confidence ellipse. As I explained, I
could find no way to plot it on a printer. It appeared only as a picture on
my screen, not as a separate attachment, but included within the message in
Outlook Express. There was an attachment, "NavList_5388.obs (231 bytes)",
but I could find no way to open that. There was no way I could alter the
aspect ratio of that picture. If the x and y axes were indeed intended to
plot as equal scales in miles, then it's easier to understand. But on my
screen, they didn't plot that way, and so even if the error ellipse had been
in reality a circle, it wouldn't have shown up as one: therefore angles were
    significantly distorted.

Thanks to Andres for making the intention clear.

    George.
