You need to provide the NavList with the details of your problem 229 sight reduction and we can collectively figure out your 30 mile discrepancy. If I had to guess I would say that you are not correctly plotting from an assumed position. The scientific calculator sin cos method uses GPS or DR as the assumed position which will result in a smaller intercept than 229 or 249 sight reduction table plotted from a convenient Longitude and whole Latitude.
