They don't snap off but they do slide out and get lost, so be careful.

'Got my 2102-D yesterday. Just wondering how many hours it'll be before the pin in the middle snaps off.
Many of you have modified the 2102-d to suit your purposes.
Now I'll have to make a first surface mirror AH.
