    2 Minute Star Finder Class.
    From: Byron Franklin
    Date: 2011 Oct 16, 17:49 -0700

Byron: I will give a demonstration of my Star Finder Monday Oct 17 at the Seamen's Church Inst. Newport RI. at 6PM. I will show the easy set up and how to
    TRANSFER ARM.
The purpose of the TRANSFER ARM is to transfer planets and other celestial bodies on the STAR DISK.
Description: transparent and circular. The TRANSFER ARM is a disk split in half with a pointer at each rim. The CELESTIAL EQUATOR circles the pole (pin.)
The split pointer line intersects the equator at zero declination/and projected earths zero latitude.
The top pointer line runs from the celestial Equator to 90 degrees north at the pole, to 90 degrees south at the south pole. The lower pointer, runs from the equator to 30 degrees north and south and is cut with a slot wide enough to insert a grease pencil through to the STAR DISK to add Planets or stars.

You find the Planets and other bodies in the Nautical Almanac. ( The local Library or on the internet will have this information).
You must get the SHA. (Sidereal Hour Angle) and DEC (Declination) for the desired date, month and day, for the planets that wonder around the sky. You set the star disk on the base disk at zero longitude. You place the transfer arm on the star disk and rotate the slot to the SHA degrees on the outer rim of the base disk, and mark the planet through the slot at the North or South DEC from the Almanac. The Sun Moon and planets will never leave the Slot. You can plot other stars with the same procedure using their SHA & DEC. The star can remain but the other bodies move and have to be plotted weekly, moon & Sun ever day.
add stars & planets. I have "hand Outs" to back up the demon.
