In my quest for reliable used metal sextant I have now come across an offer of a white C&P with full-horizon mirror and two scopes. See attached photos. The certificate is dated to 1982.
One scope is a 4x40, according to the certificate. Is this the telescope described by Michael Bradley in his earlier post as his favourite telescope of all?
The other, tube-shaped, scope looks unlike any other I have seen so far. According to the seller, it is described on the certificate as a 6x30, but as an "8x30 prismatic monocular with reflected compass" in the instructions. Do you have any idea what type of scope this actually is, and what its optical quality might be?
Would this be a useful sextant, and what would be a fair price for the sextant with the two telescopes, assuming no obvious mechanical or optical defects?
