    Re: 1962 Practical Navigator
    From: Dan Allen

I bought my second copy of a 1962 last month for $16. I paid one year
earlier for my first copy of a 1962 $15.
I have seen this a lot as well. A common one is for the 1977 edition to be
in the $45-$75 range. Although it was not printed in great quantities it is
nevertheless easy to find and can be had for $20 if you look around a bit.
A bit stranger is that I have found absolutely mint condition 1918 and 1937
Bowditches -- on numerous occasions -- for $7!
What it tells me is that many of these book dealers have no idea as to a
book's worth and they will try and get what the market will deliver.

Wonder if anyone on the list has run into this.
I was at the "Book Baron's" in Fullerton today, looking for a copy
of the "Practical Navigator" and found a 1962 edition for $95.00.
I talked to the girl that worked there and she tried to tell me that
that was the going price. Needless to say, I went down street to another
used book store and picked up a 1966 corrected reprint of the 1962 edition
    for $15.00.
How is it that some used book dealers that that 35 year old PNs go for
$95.00? Were not talking 1862 now.
