Now I have found my error: For the time interval between the first course change and the moon altitude, I reckoned only 15 minutes of time instead of 75, forgot the one-hour-change in WT ! As I based my latitude on the sun and moon altitude observations, this explains why Jupiter didn't match.

Oh Thanks, So glad you found that !

Anyway, even with your early "a bit degraded" initial result ("Your position at the time of the lunar distance observation was somewhere in the vicinity of 46d42'N 2d30'W, with the watch some 16h24m16s slow on GMT" as published in " http://www.fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=115706"), our first "Marq Saint Hilaire" iteration and then our second "Frank's Computer assisted" iteration put us back up quite well onto the saddle, and then right close to the true position.

One of the beauties with "solid" iterations such as these ones is that if in one of them you happen to go "off-track" - within certain limits though - next iteration, if performed 100% correctly, will put you back onto a different nonetheless rightly converging path !

Now, since you have M. Jupiter well under control this time -let the god of all mythology gods behave this time -, you can probably achieve an initial result even better than your first one, no ?

Dear Emeritus DIAMOND Club Member, I have to confess that I am still VERY curious at the way so superbly seem to tackle various changes in course and/or speed ...
